Our fall 2026 series presents four deeply musical films where music extends beyond the soundtrack to shape narrative, memory, and artistic mythology.
Each screening opens with a specially conceived live acoustic performance that expands on the musical world of the film.
For the price of a movie ticket, audiences will encounter musical traditions more often heard in concert halls uptown, in dialogue with the cinematic worlds they have inspired.

An ambitious young musician’s life becomes entwined with that of his reclusive master in Alain Corneau’s haunting portrait of composer Marin Marais and his teacher, Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe. With a landmark score by Jordi Savall, whose viola da gamba recordings inspired Pascal Quignard’s original story.
Preceded by a live performance and presentation of Baroque-era instruments by viola da gambist Marc Armitano Domingo.
